Homeowners insurance is a must! With devastation's such as hurricanes, wild fires, tornadoes, fires, etc. you never can be sure your home will be spared. Having homeowners insurance is having piece of mind. A premium is paid yearly to a company in case of a potential loss. Insurance protects the homeowner from hardship caused by any losses.
You are not required by law to have homeowners insurance. If you choose not to have homeowners insurance, be prepared to pay in cash because mortgage companies won't give you a home loan without it. Make sure to factor in an insurance payment as well as taxes in your monthly mortgage payment. Different companies have different rates. Be sure to talk to look around at multiple companies and choose the policy that is best suited for you.
